Mould Removal & Treatment for Landlords & Homeowners

Black mould treated, stains blocked and rooms repainted in mould-resistant paint across Brighton, Hove and Sussex. I also point out what’s likely causing it, so you’re not just painting over a problem that will come back.

What’s included

Mould needs treating, not just covering. A typical job includes:

  • Affected areas cleaned and treated with a mould remover
  • Stains sealed with a stain block so they don’t bleed through
  • Two coats of mould-resistant paint on affected walls and ceilings
  • Surrounding areas treated with a mould inhibitor to slow regrowth
  • Mouldy bath, shower and sink sealant cut out and replaced
  • Advice on condensation and ventilation to stop it returning

Why mould comes back

Most mould in homes is caused by condensation: moisture from cooking, showers and drying clothes settling on cold walls and ceilings in rooms without enough ventilation. Treatment and mould-resistant paint slow it right down, but if the moisture stays, it will eventually return.

If the cause looks like a leak, penetrating damp or a problem that needs a specialist, I’ll tell you rather than paint over it.

Inspections and reports for landlords and agents

Damp and mould is a hazard landlords are expected to deal with promptly. I carry out damp and mould inspections and produce clear, room-by-room reports with photos, severity ratings and recommended works, either as a one-off or on a regular quarterly schedule.

How a job runs

1. Inspect and quote

I check how far the mould has spread, look for the likely cause and give you a written, fixed price.

2. Treat

Affected areas are cleaned and treated, with the room kept ventilated while the treatment works.

3. Seal and repaint

Stains are blocked, then walls and ceilings are finished in mould-resistant paint. Mouldy sealant is replaced.

4. Report

You get before and after photos, and landlords and agents get a short report they can keep on file.

How pricing works

Small jobs are charged by the hour. Larger jobs get a written, fixed quote after a visit, so you know the cost before work starts. There’s no VAT to add.

Frequently asked questions

Will the mould come back?

Treatment and mould-resistant paint slow regrowth considerably, but if the room stays damp from condensation or a leak, it will eventually return. I’ll tell you what’s likely causing it so the cause can be dealt with.

Do you fix the cause of the damp?

I’ll point out likely causes such as condensation, poor ventilation or a leak. Where it needs a specialist, such as rising damp or roof repairs, I’ll say so rather than paint over the problem.

Can the room still be used while you work?

Usually, yes. The treatment has a strong smell, so the room is kept ventilated while it works, and the paint needs time to dry between coats.

Do you provide reports for landlords?

Yes. I produce room-by-room damp and mould reports with photos, severity ratings and recommended works, as a one-off or on a regular quarterly schedule.
