Why brackets pull out
Above most windows is a concrete or steel lintel, with soft or old plaster around it. Fixings that aren’t suited to what’s behind the plaster work loose over time, especially with heavy curtains or blinds that are pulled every day. I check what’s there and use fixings to match, so poles and blinds stay up.
Child safety
Looped blind cords and chains are a strangulation risk for young children. Every blind I fit has its cord or chain secured with a tensioner or cleat, out of reach.
For landlords and letting agents
Broken blinds and fallen curtain poles are common tenant reports and end-of-tenancy jobs. I fix or replace them quickly, arrange access with tenants, and send photos with an invoice you can pass straight to your client.
How pricing works
Small jobs are charged by the hour. Whole-house fittings get a written, fixed quote, so you know the cost before work starts. There’s no VAT to add.
Frequently asked questions
Usually you supply them, and I fit them. I can help you measure correctly first, whether they’re going inside the window recess or on the wall above it. I am also happy to recommend an online retailer with a fast delivery service and competitive prices for you to order from.
Yes, using a bendable track or pole shaped to the bay, or separate blinds for each window.
Usually the fixings don’t suit the wall above the window, which is often a concrete or steel lintel behind old plaster. It’s refixed with the right fixings and the wall made good.
Yes. Cords and chains are secured with a tensioner or cleat, out of the reach of children.
