Stair gates fitted properly
Pressure-fitted gates are fine at the bottom of the stairs, but at the top, a gate should always be screw-fitted, as the bar across the bottom of a pressure gate is a trip hazard where a fall is most dangerous. I fix gates securely into the wall or newel post, using adaptors where needed, so they stay put.
Furniture, windows and blinds
Tall furniture and TVs can tip if climbed on, so they’re secured with fixings to suit your wall. Upper-floor windows get restrictors, and looped blind cords are secured out of reach. See Window Repairs and Blinds & Curtain Rails.
Pet proofing
Pet gates keep dogs out of rooms or off the stairs, cat flaps give cats their own way in and out, and garden gates and fence gaps can be secured so pets can’t get out.
How pricing works
Child and pet proofing is charged by the hour, or as a fixed quote for a whole house, so you know the cost before work starts. There’s no VAT to add.
