Stud walls
A stud wall is a quick, clean way to split a large room, create a walk-in wardrobe or close off an alcove. I build non-load-bearing partitions only, and I’ll tell you if a change needs building regulations approval or advice from a structural engineer. Sockets and switches in a new wall are fitted by an electrician.
Pipe boxing
Exposed pipes are hard to keep clean and look unfinished. Boxing them in tidies the room, while access panels at valves, stopcocks and cleaning points mean nothing gets sealed away for good.
How a job runs
1. Survey
I check the space, the floor and ceiling, and any pipes or cables involved.
2. Fixed quote
You get a written, fixed price, including any soundproofing or access panels.
3. Build
The frame goes up, insulation goes in where needed, and the wall is boarded.
4. Finish
Joints are taped, filled and sanded ready to decorate, or I can paint it too.
How pricing works
Stud walls and boxing in get a written, fixed quote after a visit, so you know the cost before work starts. There’s no VAT to add.
Frequently asked questions
Often not for a simple non-load-bearing partition. It can be needed if the wall affects fire escape routes or creates a new bedroom, especially in flats and HMOs, so it’s worth checking with building control first.
Yes. Acoustic insulation in the frame and sound-resistant plasterboard reduce noise between rooms considerably.
Yes. Access panels are left at valves, stopcocks and cleaning points, so they can be reached without taking the boxing apart.
Yes. The joints are taped, filled and sanded ready to decorate which I can also take care of for you. If you’d like a full plaster skim finish, I’ll recommend a plasterer.
