Window restrictors
Restrictors limit how far a window opens, which helps prevent falls from upper floors, especially where children live or visit. Where a window is also a fire escape route, I fit restrictors that can be released quickly from inside, so safety doesn’t get in the way of escape.
How a job runs
1. Send a photo
A photo of the window and the faulty part helps me bring the right replacement first time.
2. Quote
Small jobs are charged by the hour; larger jobs get a written, fixed quote.
3. Repair
The faulty part is replaced or adjusted, and the window is checked for smooth opening, closing and locking.
4. Report
You get photos of the work, plus a note of any other windows that need attention.
For landlords and letting agents
Windows that won’t lock or close properly affect security and heating bills, and broken restrictors are a common inspection point. I fix them quickly, arrange access with tenants, and send photos with an invoice you can pass straight to your client.
How pricing works
Small jobs are charged by the hour. Larger jobs get a written, fixed quote after a visit, so you know the cost before work starts. There’s no VAT to add.
Frequently asked questions
Usually, yes. It’s most often a worn hinge, a dropped sash or a faulty handle or locking mechanism, all of which can normally be adjusted or replaced in one visit.
No. Misted or broken glass units need a glazier. I can replace the handles, hinges, restrictors and seals around them.
They’re strongly recommended on upper floors, especially where children live or visit. On windows that are also a fire escape route, restrictors should be easy to release from inside.
I can ease, adjust and make small repairs to sticking or rattling timber windows. Larger rot repairs or replacement sashes need a specialist joiner.
